I have been reading a lot about using video to promote small business recently so thought it was about time I got a bit more proactive with this medium. As you can see from my YouTube channel I have recorded video before, but not as much as I have written words to share information (the written word is my comfort zone after all).
So, here goes. I’ve recorded a 60-second clip on my phone for you about why video is good PR for your business.
And just to make sure you really got those tips, video works because:
• Your viewers connect with you twice – seeing you as you speak and hearing your words (and they can see there’s a real person behind the words)
• Visual works – if a picture is worth 1000 words, how many words is a video worth?
• People pay more attention to video than written words – essentially they are more like to click on a video of you sharing your knowledge than read the same words in a blog post.
And if you’re still not sure, here’s a really good reason to use video as part of your PR strategy – YouTube is the second biggest search engine and video ranks really well on search engines.
So, now I’ve recorded videos a few times I’m considering doing it more often. I thought some short tips on writing and PR, but you tell me what you’d like to see. Reply to this newsletter with your suggestion and I’ll see if it falls within my knowledge bank.
