Tasmania is set to reinforce its position as Australia’s premier hydrogen hub with the inaugural Hydrogen Transport and Power Field Day, an industry event bringing together leading players in emissions reduction, sustainable equipment, and the hydrogen ecosystem.
Organised by Countrywide Hydrogen, a developer of green hydrogen production and refuelling projects across Tasmania, the Hydrogen Field Day will provide a hands-on experience for businesses seeking to transition from fossil fuels to clean, green hydrogen.
Managing Director Geoffrey Drucker emphasised the significance of this event, stating:
The first adopters of green hydrogen will come from heavy transport and logistics, as well as industrial heating and power generation. Tasmania is an ideal showcase state to demonstrate how hydrogen can tangibly reduce emissions by transitioning from fossil fuels. The state’s abundance of renewable energy empowers it to produce green hydrogen and thereby reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels.
With backing from Government Business Enterprises (GBEs) aligned with the Tasmanian Renewable Hydrogen Action Plan, participation will be strong. Heavy transport operators will be among the key attendees, with the Tasmanian Transport Association well represented.
Set to take place on 14 August at Bell Bay and limited to 75 key delegates, the Hydrogen Field Day will feature:
- Live equipment displays, including hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles and gensets, plus hybrid models using a hydrogen-diesel blend to slash emissions by up to 70%
- Expert presentations from hydrogen-powered equipment suppliers, leading asset financiers, TasTAFE which is developing hydrogen-related training, CSIRO and Countrywide Hydrogen
- Exclusive networking opportunities for businesses looking to secure hydrogen technology solutions and new business opportunities
The Field Day has attracted interest and delegates from mainland states. With strong sponsorship, this groundbreaking event will bring together the future of Australia’s emerging hydrogen economy demonstrating Australia is one step closer to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
