Finding a job can be hard work, especially if you’re uncertain about what you would like to do, but NEBHub is making it easier by hosting a Youth Careers Expo next month.
Whichever career appeals – restaurant manager, civil engineer, freight driver, mixologist or an Australian Defence Force officer – young people aged between 15 and 25 years will gain a better understanding of the appropriate career and training pathways at the event.
Minister for Skills and Training Felix Ellis will open the NEBHub Youth Careers Expo, which is an initiative of Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ). Chilli FM will be crossing live to the event.
The NEBHub Careers Expo runs in two sessions – 9.30am to 11.30am and 12.30pm to 2.30pm – allowing jobseekers time to speak with any, or all, of the exhibitors and attend practical workshops. A networking session for exhibitors runs over the lunch break to build business connections within the community, BBAMZ chief executive officer Susie Bower said.
“We’re inviting young jobseekers to imagine a range of possibilities for their futures by engaging with more than 40 exhibitors and getting the most out of the interactive displays at the expo. They can learn how to mix a mocktail with the Tasmanian Hospitality Association or see the inside of an Australian Army tank,” Ms Bower said.
“This expo is not just about watching and learning for jobseekers – they can put themselves to the test by trying out training simulators used by Civil Contractors Federation Tasmania and Arbre Tasmania.
“Jobseekers can find out how to put their best self forward in an interview and ask questions about different careers in the break-out workshops with McDonald’s, TasRail, Your Local Motors and other employers,” Ms Bower said.
