Young Readers Become Heroes in Lemon Tree Book Company’s Storybook App

February 11, 2015 By Johanna Baker-Dowdell Leave a Comment

Lemon Tree Book AppReading becomes even more exciting to children when they are the main character in the story, and being the hero can help foster a love of reading in those who find it difficult.

Perth author and mother Tracey Regan has developed an iPad app that contains a mini library of eight Lemon Tree Book Company personalised stories, written with 3-7 year olds in mind.

“With our app young readers enter their own names and their friends’ names to be the main characters in the stories. They can even change the names in each story so it’s a new experience whenever they want to read the book again,” said Ms Regan, founder and director of The Lemon Tree Book Company.

“The young reader can travel with a secret agent teddy bear, be a daring dinosaur or solve mysteries as a private detective. The books really appeal to children’s active imaginations and encourage the joy of reading.”

“It’s amazing to see kid’s faces when they realise the story is all about them. Personalised books, like the eight in Lemon Tree’s app, increase a child’s confidence and self esteem because they are the hero in the adventure, plus each book has a fun fact page,” said Ms Regan.

Lemon Tree is committed to children’s literacy and donates 40 per cent of app proceeds to World Vision Australia.

“We are passionate about getting children to read every day. Even 10 minutes of reading with a parent on a daily basis can make a huge difference to childhood literacy,” Ms Regan said.

“Education and literacy are the keys to empowering disadvantaged communities to thrive and that’s why we have committed a percentage of our app proceeds to World Vision Australia. It’s a long-term commitment we are proud of,” she said.

Craft packs are also available to match the electronic titles so children can make their own books and be the hero in the printed story too.
