After spending so much time in the past few months thinking about how I would make every second of 2014 count, I realised the one big thing I’d been procrastinating over was painting my office. It was time the Strawberry Patch had a makeover.
Initially I thought of repainting the insipid yellow walls a warm white to make it feel more comfortable in winter (being the coldest room in the house is only good in summer!), but after consulting with my good friend and colour consultant extraordinaire Suse Henshaw, I realised a strong colour was the way to go. The Patch now has three walls of a beautiful, deep, luxurious peacock blue and one white (we thought that a better options for Skype and videos on dark days).
The painting was a family effort with my husband and the kids rolling the odd wall (and the dog dipping his tail and nose in every pot of paint) and we only finished a few days ago, but I already feel calmer and more inspired in this space. Once my pictures are on the walls and I’ve settled into the new layout properly I can’t wait to see what I’ll create!
And, as you can see from the photo, Bastille (dog) and Coco (cat) are right at home in their new chilling out space.
How does colour affect your productivity or mood? Do you have an office space that inspires you?
Looks great JBD … throw in some palms and you’ll have your own office oasis! Great the kids were involved also.
Thanks Annalisa! A plant would look good in here. I need a lamp and some more organisation and it’ll be very cosy.
